Dual Enrollment Interest Meeting
August 22, 2019 at 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm
Please take some time to read the attached documents regarding the Dual Enrollment opportunity for modern languages currently offered to our Spanish and French I-IV scholars through Estrella County Community College.
What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for eligible high school scholars to earn lower-division college credit during their regular high school Spanish/French 1-4 courses. The credits are treated the same as regular college credits, and are transferable to a myriad of colleges and any AZ state university.
What are the benefits of Dual Enrollment?
As long as the scholar receives a C- or higher in the current modern language course, completes the attached documentation, and pays the required fee, he/she will receive 4 college credits for completing a Spanish/French course. Our current modern language immersion courses instructed at Trivium Prep. will not be modified, and the program will take place during our regular academic day.
For additional information, please visit the links below regarding Dual Enrollment, the application process, cost, grant opportunity, payment options, and general requirements. In addition, a Dual Enrollment Rep. from Estrella County Community College will provide an informative meeting at the beginning of our academic year.
If you have any immediate questions regarding the program, feel free to email Mr. Shepard (Director of the Dual Enrollment Program at E.C.C.C.), austin.shepard@estrellamountain.edu, or Mrs. Acherbo (Lead Teacher for Modern Languages), macherbo@triviumprep.org

Spanish 1 (Mrs. Acherbo)
Spanish 2 (Mrs. Acosta, and Mrs. Acherbo)

On Saturday, November 23, we will be holding a Practice ACT test for 10th and 11th grade Trivium Prep students. Test-takers have more time on the SAT with 1 minute and 10 seconds per question, compared with 49 seconds on the ACT.
The practice test will run from 8 am to 12 pm (possibly being done by 11:30 am). The test itself will take about 3 hours and 5 minutes. Each student will then score their practice test so they will know how well they did. Tests, pencils and waters will be provided.

We will look at how environmental factors can play a part, as well explore constructive coping skills that parents can teach their students in order to build a resilient child. The goal is to increase knowledge about stress and coping, provide insight into symptoms, and build skills to support our scholars in managing their feelings.
Please contact Lauren Katz, Great Hearts Director of School Counseling, at LKatz@GreatHeartsaz.org with any questions. We hope you will join us! Maryvale Prep is located at 4825 W Camelback Road, Phoenix AZ, 85031.

As long as the scholar receives a C- or higher in the current modern language course, completes the required documentation (to be shared soon), and pays the required fee, he/she will receive 4 college credits for completing a Spanish/French course. Our current modern language immersion courses instructed at Trivium Prep. will not be modified, and the program will take place during our regular academic day.
